A flu vaccination (also known as an influenza vaccination or flu shot) reduces the risk of infection to a minimum and lessens the risk of possible complications from the flu, especially for high-risk groups such as pregnant women, young children and people with an immune deficiency.
A flu shot is therefore highly recommended

• for people who come into contact with sick or elderly people and babies, either professionally or privately
  
• for the over-65s
• for people with chronic illnesses

and for anyone who wants to reduce their risk of catching the flu for professional and/or personal reasons.
