Important information
Further information
- The polio vaccination is based on a killed virus. Thanks to the vaccination, the body can react quickly in the event of an infection.
- Today, practically only children under the age of three are affected by polio. For unvaccinated adults, immunization is therefore only necessary when visiting a risk area.
- For vaccinated adults, a single vaccination is sufficient to refresh their protection. For unvaccinated persons, three doses over a period of eight months are necessary for protection.
- As polio viruses can also be repeatedly spread to polio-free areas, vaccination against the virus is essential.
